Internships

A Housing Delaware internship is a launch pad into a career in affordable housing. Interns work on real housing challenges — from crafting policy briefs to tracking legislation in the General Assembly — alongside the teams that carry out the agency’s mission. Internship openings are posted in the Career Opportunities portal alongside full-time roles.

Morris Murchison

Custodial Maintenance Technician in Administration

A dedicated member of the Administration Department since 2010, Morris plays a crucial role in the upkeep, historical integrity, and maintenance of DSHA’s buildings on the Green.

Melissa Ziegler

Executive Secretary III

Melissa supports Director Cynthia Karnai and Chief of Staff Emily Cunningham, joining DSHA in 2018 after 30 years with the Delaware Courts.

Alex Modeas

Policy & Planning Director (Former Intern 2022–2023)

A DSHA internship initiated Alex’s passion for affordable housing in the First State. Crafting policy briefs and tracking legislation in the General Assembly gave Alex the confidence to pursue a career in affordable housing in Delaware.

Janell Stanton

Community Development Manager

Janell administers the federal housing grants and homelessness programs. Janell came to after directing domestic violence programs at People’s Place. She says working with recipients is the most rewarding part of her job.

Brian Rossello

Chief Financial Officer

Brian, who has been with DSHA for 25 years, oversees Housing Delaware's Finance Department which includes the agency's program finances, financial Management, and loan Servicing.

Tyrel Jackson

Housing Choice Voucher Landlord Liaison

Tyrel recruits and serves as the primary point of contact for property owners, managers and landlords renting to DSHA’s voucher holders. He helps write leasing agreements and housing assistance agreement (HAP) contracts, oversees relationships between landlords and vouchers holders, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations.
