Internships

A Housing Delaware internship is a launch pad into a career in affordable housing. Interns work on real housing challenges — from crafting policy briefs to tracking legislation in the General Assembly — alongside the teams that carry out the agency’s mission. Internship openings are posted in the Career Opportunities portal alongside full-time roles.

Morris Murchison

Custodial Maintenance Technician in Administration

A dedicated member of the Administration Department since 2010, Morris plays a crucial role in the upkeep, historical integrity, and maintenance of DSHA’s buildings on the Green.

Melissa supports Director Cynthia Karnai and Chief of Staff Emily Cunningham, joining DSHA in 2018 after 30 years with the Delaware Courts.

Policy & Planning Director (Former Intern 2022–2023)

A DSHA internship initiated Alex’s passion for affordable housing in the First State. Crafting policy briefs and tracking legislation in the General Assembly gave Alex the confidence to pursue a career in affordable housing in Delaware.

Wanda Spiering

Chief Operating Officer

Wanda served as Director of Human Resources from 2009–2020 and returned to DSHA as Chief Operating Officer in the Administration Division, managing human resources, accounting, and housing management functions.

Kyle Jones-Bey

Program Compliance Officer in Housing Management

Kyle provides auditing and reporting services to ensure DSHA programs are HUD compliant. After 12 years at DSHA and a stint working in New York City housing, he returned in 2022 to help the agency he started with, bringing a high level of knowledge and professionalism to the compliance team.
